There are sessions I finish editing and just sit with for a moment before I do anything else. Thankful to be able to create images for families. Baby Devin’s was one of them.
She came into my Eagle Lake studio on a quiet morning – brand new and absolutely perfect. 😍 Her parents were calm and easy and so genuinely in love with this little girl they’d been waiting for. First-time parents, taking it all in. There was such a sweetness in the room from the moment they walked through the door.
I had photographed her mama back in her high school days — sports photography, all energy and movement and athletic pride. And here she was now, in an entirely different season, still and soft and holding the most precious thing she’s ever held. That kind of full-circle moment never gets old. It’s one of my favorite things about this work.
Baby Devin was, in a word, a dream. She settled almost immediately. She ate once — once — the entire session, and then she was simply present. Still. Peaceful. And those eyes. At the end of her session she kept opening them and just looking, wide and bright and curious, like she was already trying to figure out the world.
It is so rare to catch a newborn that alert, that expressive, that willing to just be. We got pose after pose of those gorgeous open eyes, and I honestly did not want to stop.
My baby whisperer was by my side the whole time keeping Devin cozy, calm, and perfectly settled between setups, which meant her parents could truly just sit back and breathe and be present. That’s always my goal. You did the hard work of growing this baby. Let us take it from here.
We moved through soft wraps and textures, quiet posed setups, those precious newborn details. The tiny curled toes. The rosebud lips. The way a newborn fits perfectly into their parent’s hands like they were always supposed to be there.
Baby Devin, you were so loved before you ever arrived — and these images will tell that story for the rest of your life.
Welcome to the world, sweet girl. It’s a beautiful one. ❤️
