I have been hooked on photographing weddings since the very first time I assisted at a wedding back in 2008. At that time I was still in photography school and learning from a team of photographers at another studio. I doubt I knew what I loved about them and I can guarantee I didn’t really know what I was doing then either, but there was something that drew me in. I have had the privilege of learning from some great photographers over the years and am very lucky to have those opportunities. I ventured out on my own, established my business, been in the photography industry for many years now, and can still say photographing a wedding day is one of my very favorite things to do! I LOVE all the little things that make up a couple’s wedding day ~ the joy, love, emotion, anticipation, all the special details and planning that come into place, and of course the hustle and bustle of a busy day! Oh and you can’t forget the celebration!! Each and every wedding day is so different and so custom it’s always a joy to be part of a wedding day and capture all those special moments that come and go so very fast. I’m excited to share some of my many favorite photographs and memories from the last few years over the coming blog posts!
As a wedding photographer, the day starts well before the ceremony ~ usually while the bride and bridesmaids are getting their hair and makeup done. My wedding collections include two photographers, myself and one of my second photographers. Having that second photographer is something I will never take for granted, they are irreplaceable and help make the day go even smoother. Besides an extra set of hands and eyes, the couple gets two perspectives! Which is awesome! I can concentrate on the whole wedding party and my second photographer might be focusing on the kids or something going on in the background. So while the girls are getting hair and make-up done we are setting up our equipment, scouting out our locations and getting a plan in place for the day. Once we are set to go we start photographing the details, the bride’s dress, jewelry, flower bouquets, the rings, programs, invitations, garter, shoes, the list can go on and on. As I mentioned above each wedding is so different and this is one place all those custom decisions and choices our couples make come into play. I LOVE seeing the variety and will never get tired of photographing details! Enjoy some of my favorite detail photos 🙂
I love all the special touches, like the charm on this bride’s bouquet. Inside was a photo of the grooms mom who had passed away only a few months before the couples wedding. Such a special way to have her with them throughout their day.
